Welcome 8th Cohort of Vocational Training Students

For the past three months, our team went on radio talk shows and into the communities to recruit students for our eighth cohort. They recruited around 150 interested youth.

On April 3, 2025, Uniting Distant Stars Vocational Training Center held a welcome meeting to our newest group of students, about 75. They met their instructors and decided their course schedules and to start training on April 22.

Since the beginning we empower instructors and students to set their schedule, and this results in a higher attendance rate. This process also helped us confront our newest recruitment challenge. Liberian youth are dropping out of academic school and avoid enrolling in college or trade school, because they found "fast money" by being a motorcycle tax driver. Sadly, this is a risky and unstainable profession. So, by offering them to negotiate their schedule, they can continue their quick hustle while they learn a valuable trade.
